A hands-on workshop with Elisabet Camprubi at UX Camp Calgary
What if the key to clearer thinking wasn't another framework — but a LEGO brick?
On Tuesday, February 24th, Designfulness founder Elisabet Camprubi is bringing one of her most popular workshop formats to UX Camp Calgary — a hands-on evening session exploring how grounding practices and LEGO® Serious Play® can help UX practitioners think more clearly, collaborate more honestly, and stay creative without burning out.
The workshop runs from 6–8pm at J5 Design, generously sponsoring the venue for the evening. LEGO sets are included.
What the workshop covers
Presence and Play: A UX Toolkit for Creative Thinking is designed for designers, researchers, and product people who want practical tools — not just theory — for navigating the cognitive and emotional demands of creative work.
Over two hours, participants will:
Ground themselves for clarity and creative safetyThe session opens with grounding techniques drawn from mindfulness practice, giving participants a way to settle, arrive, and create the internal conditions that make genuine creative thinking possible. These aren't abstract exercises — they're tools you can use before a workshop, a client presentation, or any high-stakes creative session.
Use play to unlock ideas and reduce overthinkingOverthinking is one of the most common creativity killers in UX work. The workshop explores how intentional play — structured, purposeful, and facilitated — can bypass the inner critic and open up new directions that purely analytical thinking tends to close off.
Experience LEGO® Serious Play® firsthandParticipants will work with LEGO® Serious Play®, the facilitation methodology used by organizations ranging from NASA to the United Nations to help teams communicate more clearly and think through complex problems together. The session will demonstrate how LSP strengthens team communication, collaboration, and psychological safety — and how the methodology translates into UX practice.
Build a personal toolkit for sustainable creative workThe workshop closes with practical, body-based tools for regulating stress, staying calm under pressure, and avoiding the burnout cycle that's common in fast-moving design environments. Participants leave with simple exercises they can adapt immediately in their own team sessions and co-creation workshops.
Who this is for
This workshop is designed for UX designers, researchers, product managers, and anyone who facilitates creative work with teams. No prior experience with mindfulness or LEGO® Serious Play® is required — just a willingness to show up, build something, and think differently for two hours.
